RELEGLON calls government attention to encourage reading culture in schools

A jos based Non-Governmental establishment Read,Learn and Grow Literacy organization of Nigeria (RELEGLON) has call on government to encourage reading culture in pupils and students of various institutions of learning in the country.

The Director of Administration Mr. David T.O stated that the establishment is to see this dieying reading culture in Nigeria is looked into for necessary redress.

He made this statement yesterday during a sensitization campaign to some public and private schools in Jos,Jos north local government area of plateau state.

He explain that RELEGLON as an NGO is created to work collectively with primary schools,secondary and even tertiary institutions to boost reading habit which has been neglected for long.

The director therefore lamented on the need for the organization to have a Secretariat in order to run its activities smoothly and call on government to grant them financial support to meet up with its mission.

Also speaking, head teacher Mariam kiddy academy Jos Mrs.Felicity Anyanwu said a child required special teaching method to be able to read efficiently to know how to pronounce phonetic sounds and letter words through transcription.

She explain the importance of reading is to teach pupils a skill on how to read as well as the speaking skills to build their learning capacity.
